Today is moving day... from Hotel La Taverna to Wayan's Villa
We wake early & hubby goes for a surf. I love this part of the morning when the kids are still asleep & I can trawl the Internet or read my book.
After breakfast at the hotel, we take the bikes back for the last time. Then buy a few more things from Tootsies - they were unpacking some new items & I bought some cute cotton shorts with little poms poms on them for 40,000. Found another pair in a nicer colour at another market stall & the lady let me have them for 'Tootsies Price'. I think most of the market ladies near Tootsies are keen for a sell so they will probably charge you the same price if you ask!

Check out time is not until 12.00, so still plenty of time for a laze by the pool. Hubby bumps into an old friend while he is returning his bike, the last time we saw him was when we bumped into him on a holiday to
Fiji back in 2005! He's staying at a villa a few doors down. He told us about a nice cheap little hotel that's just behind Sand restaurant - on the old Bonsai Restaurant site.
It's called
Sari Sanur Resort. We went for a walk to check it out. The manager was only too happy to show us some of the rooms. The rooms are bungalow style & are all set around a central pool & very private each with their own walled garden. The room itself is a bit dark, but nice & clean looking with a modern bathroom. Deluxe bungalows were $100 US but the manager said email me & he would do a 'good deal'.
They also had a section of sun lounges to use on the beach. So in my opinion, it was pretty good value.
Just before our driver was due, I went to change some money & pick up some drinks & snacks. The rate was the highest so far 10,600 for AUD 11,390 for USD 15,190 for EUR so I exchanged $300. Was thinking about exchanging more, but thought what if it's more tomorrow...

Checking out of La Taverna, I'm a little sad because we enjoyed ourselves so much again this year but I'm also excited for the next part of our holiday.
Our driver friend Wayan picks us up just after 12.00 and takes us to his villa that he manages. It's called Sanur Hideaway Villa & is owned by a couple from Mooloolaba. The villa is about 10 mins from La Taverna but feels a million miles away - we drive up & down small alleyways & it has a real village feel. His wife Cynthia is there to greet us & helps us unpack the van.
The villa is lovely & modern with 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms plus a pool which is not too cold.
Out the front door & across the lane is a tiny shop where we buy some of the cheapest & coldest Bintangs on the trip so far - 15,000. We put them in the fridge for later. There is also another small shop in the lane out the back of Wayan's house.

The kids go out the back door & into Wayan's family compound. Here they meet his lovely 4 daughters & their pets - cat Yoda, dogs Tigger, Jerry, Minnie & Cheeko plus a bird. Minnie is mum to 3 month old pup Cheeko (and Jerry is the dad) & my daughter is just besotted by him. She carries him around like a baby & wants to take him home!

For dinner tonight we have been invited by Wayan into his family home. Cynthia has cooked us a feast - tuna with sambal, satay pork, prawn stir fry, sautéed greens & rice. Everything tasted amazing.

After dinner we presented the family with some gifts we'd brought from home - chocolate & some hand cream for Cynthia and some clothing for Wayan and each of his 4 daughters. The girls all chose some pieces each & ran off to their rooms to try them on. It gave us such pleasure to see the smiles on their faces. After some talk around the dinner table, kids were getting tired so we said our good nights & went back to our villa. Prior to leaving I queried Wayan regarding the cost for our dinner - he wouldn't let us pay anything, saying it was his pleasure to invite us to dinner. We slipped his wife some money though :)
Putting the kids to bed, we watched our first DVD of the trip, then sit by the pool for a little while before heading off to bed.
The kids slept in so late this morning, but I'm still waking up at sparrow's fart though. Was lovely just sitting on the sun lounge facing the pool while the sun came up. Off in the distance I could hear some music playing, it sounded like a ceremony was taking place. Then I can hear this chanting "Ommmmm...Ommmmm...Ommmm.." It sounds kind of freaky & I recall hearing the same sound in Hardy's a few days ago. Thought it must of been a prayer call. I asked Wayan about it later & it was the 6am prayer.
Cynthia made us banana pancakes this morning & then it was time to pack our gear and head to our next destination.
Wayan had some customers to take to the safari park today, so we decided to leave early rather than stay at the villa all day.
We had a wonderful time staying in the villa & having the company of Wayan & his lovely family.
